I have the whole Ashanti collection, and her latest "The Declaration" did not rise above the occasion to become anything groundbreaking or original. There are no samples, no standout beats, just the same 'ol Ashanti doin' the ghetto r and b thang. This is not saying the whole cd is bad, I do like "In These Streets", "Shine" and "Body On Me" is ok, but most of the songs sound familiar and more of the same. I was hoping she would take it to the next level and turn it out. I'm more excited about Ciara's new release, at least she's doin' some 80's stuff. Ashanti is good for meat and potatoes female r and b music. Ashanti has that unmistakable voice and I hope her next album will be more creative and off the wall.
